Biddulph Ukulele Group's annual ukulele extravaganza will be held at Biddulph Town Hall on 23rd June 2018
Here we are again folks! A great line up of ukulele officionados for BUG day. Including Sam Muir, Manitoba Hal, Amelia Coburn and not forgetting our own Peter Moss. There'll be the usual ukulele entertainment throughout the day with performances from individuals and groups from far and near. There'll be workshops put on by some of the top performers above, and an opportunity for everyone to improve their skill and technique and have fun doing so.
There will be a small charge of £5 per head for each of the workshops below. Because of the expected demand all workshops must be booked in advance through Kath Dean 07595 723598 or through Facebook or via email.
Peter Moss's Workshop. 9-45 am.
If you haven't attended one of Peter's workshops before you're in for a treat. Peter will be doing a complete breakdown of how to play rhythm to one of his songs, with instruction on how to play each chord and how to put the whole thing together. You'll be amazed at how far you can progress in such a short time. Prompt start essential as there is a lot to cover.
Sam Muir's Workshop. 11 am.
A follow on from Sam's workshop last year on reading a tab from scratch. This session will teach you how to play melodies with chord accompaniment, and boost your confidence reading tab. It will also help with rhythm and ensemble playing. ( level - Beginners with a basic knowledge of reading tab ).
Sam Muir's Workshop. 12 noon.
Right hand technique. Covering the different techniques used for playing melodies and arpeggios. The emphasis will be on playing together as an ensemble. ( level - Intermediate. Ability to read tab essential. Some pieces will have a chord option when playing together ).
Manitoba Hal Workshop. 1 pm.
"Become a Riff Meister". Learn how to create your own riffs to accompany and accent your playing. Using simple chords and basic fretboard knowledge, learn how to accent your arrangements and fill out your playing style. Useful for Blues, Jazz, Rock & Roll etc.
There will be almost continual ukulele performances throughout the day and evening including -
A performance by Amelia Coburn at 3pm.
Individual evening performances by Sam Muir and Manitoba Hal starting at 8pm.
Other performances by individuals and groups throughout the day. ( PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PERFORMANCES WILL BE RUNNING 20 MINUTES LATER THAN THE TIMES PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE EVENING CONCERT ).
Concert tickets will be free to all participants but there will be a small charge of £5 for others.
